Hi folks, I am currently writing from Tokyo Suginami’s neighborhood. I am staying for 5 months in a little apartment where I have to share the kitchen, fortunately I have my own bedroom and bathroom. I have already met my roommates who are really kind (I think I’ll have a pleasant stay with them).

Now let me talk about my first days (they were epic). Indeed I went out with one of my friend from school. We ate in a tiny restaurant in Shibuya where all Japanese people were looking at us like extraterrestrials. Some of them came to talk to us and actually were singing french songs. Then I came back home but on my way to the apartment I got lost in the street, I couldn’t remember the road. Finally, a really nice Japanese woman helped me and carried me home. (it took me 1h30 ahah)

Otherwise, I already love Tokyo with its contrast between buildings and gardens. Each neighborhood has an atmosphere, it can switch from super active life with thousands of people everywhere to quiet place with no one. While walking through the buildings I found a temple where people were praying. It was so magical to watch.

Anyway, this is a new life and new culture for me. I got to eat my real first sushis yesterday, they were amazingly good and absolutely different from those we can eat in France.

Hello vous, je vous écris en direct de Suginami, un quartier de Tokyo. Je vais vivre ici pendant 5 mois dans un appartement où je partage la cuisine mais heureusement que j’ai ma propre chambre et salle de bain. J’ai déjà rencontré mes colocs qui sont par ailleurs très sympathiques (je pense que je vais passer un bon séjour avec elles).

Maintenant, laissez moi vous raconter mes premiers jours à Tokyo (ils étaient épiques). En effet, je suis sortie le premier soir avec une amie de mon école. On a mangé dans un petit restaurant à Shibuya où tous les japonais n’arrêtaient pas de nous regarder comme des extraterrestres. Quelques uns sont venus nous parler enfin je dirais même sont venus chanter en français (c’était très drôle). Après ça, je suis rentrée à la maison mais je me suis perdue sur le chemin, impossible de me rappeler la route. Heureusement, une japonaise m’a gentiment ramené chez moi (1h30 pour rentrer ahah).

Sinon, j’adore déjà Tokyo avec ses contrastes grands immeubles et jardins zens. Chaque quartier a sa propre ambiance, elle peut changer d’une ambiance de foule où c’est extrêmement bruyant à une ambiance super calme où il n’y a personne. Ce qui est incroyable aussi c’est de rencontrer des monastères et temples entre deux immeubles. J’en ai visité un où on pouvait voir les gens prier. C’était juste magique.

Bref, c’est une nouvelle vie et une nouvelle culture pour moi. Hier, j’ai mangé mes premiers vrais sushis. Ils étaient incroyablement bon et complètement différents de ce qu’on a l’habitude en France.
